Community Gardens

By sellus - Posted on 27 May 2008

Helping with a community garden is one of the best things you can do for your neighborhood. It gives an entire community easy access to healthy produce, while saving everyone money on grocery bills. It saves energy by reducing the demand for food shipped in from overseas. A community garden brings people together and strengthens community bonds. Studies even show that community gardens directly reduce crime in their surrounding neighborhoods.

CommonWealth Gardens is a non-profit dedicated to establishing and supporting community gardens and school gardens across Franklin County. We have three community gardens right now:

Second and Logan (South Frankfort)

Todd and Logan (South Frankfort)

Major and Wilson (Bellepoint)

We expect to establish twice as many gardens this summer. For more information or to request help establishing a garden yourself, email either Kris Shera at goodjive5@yahoo.com or myself at selluswilder@gmail.com.
