Community Building

By sellus - Posted on 01 July 2008

One thing I've learned from my years spent growing up here is the true value of community. Frankfort’s greatest asset is our active citizenry. Citizen groups such as WalkBike Frankfort and Envision Franklin County are driven by ordinary people who are dedicated to enriching their streets and neighborhoods.

Community building can be as simple as coaching a little league team or occasionally volunteering at the soup kitchen. As you get to know more of your neighbors, you'll find yourself living in a safer and more vibrant neighborhood. Working together, we can all live in a healthy community with a strong economy and a high quality of life.

As City Commissioner, I will enlist the aid of our many community groups and neighborhood associations in community building. I will encourage citizen involvement and grassroots efforts in Frankfort. I will work to facilitate community gardens in every neighborhood in our city. The arts can also play a vital role in strengthening community bonds.
